JOINTS

JOINTS: preserve and protect.

Your horse’s body has been designed to repair the “normal wear and tear” with walking around a paster, grazing and simply “being a horse”. When your horse is in heavy work or light work, any kind of riding discipline will contribute to unnatural stress on the animal’s joints.

To maintain healthy joints and cope with the stress of any form of exercise, joint supplements are necessary and important. If joints are not protected in the beginning, an owner can be stuck with a very expensive situation for 5, 10 or even 15 years. This situation is uncomfortable for the horse and a financial burden on the owner.

Supplements

  • Boswellia, Yucca, & Devil’s Claw

    • anti-inflammatory herbs, address joint discomfort. (Certain herbs may be in violation of some competitive organizations.)

  • Chondroitin Sulfate & Glucosamine

    • inhibit cartilage breakdown and stimulates the production of new cartilage.

  • Collagen

    • addresses cartilage deterioration, as well as, supports ligaments & tendons. Collagen assists a proper response to inflammation and manages soreness / discomfort.

  • Hyaluronic Acid

    • provides lubrication and shock absorption.

  • MSM

    • an anti-inflammatory that is vital in the connective tissue formation, such as, bones, ligaments & tendons.

  • Turmeric

    • an anti-inflammatory and soothes joint pain that can result from light or hard work.

  • Vitamin C

    • essential for protecting tissues and an important element in the production of connective tissue.

Please check with a supplement expert to ensure that you are providing your horse with an adequate dosage of the proper supplements.

You are welcome to call Ashley Rohwedder, CEMT, if you need recommendations for joint supplements to coordinate with different work loads.

Remember: Repairing damage that has already been done is always more difficult and expensive than preventing the damage in the first place.
